Training for assessing learners in Medical Imaging Departments

Support and resources

What does training involve?

The Peninsula Medical School invites you to join us to develop your roles as Practice Assessors.
To become a new Practice Assessor or to refresh your training, there are two mandatory requirements:
  • completion of the Supporting AHP Students eLearning module available from the
  • attendance at one of our online workshops (see below for further information).

What happens next?

Once you have completed the eLearning and attended a workshop, we will:
  • send you a certificate of completion to retain for your records
  • create a record for you on the PEP Student Practice Supervision & Assessment Register (or update your existing record if you are already an active Practice Assessor)
  • link your Practice Assessor record to your placement area.
Please note the programme requires Practice Assessors to refresh their training every two years. You will receive an email notification when your training is due to expire within six months as a reminder to undertake a training refresher.

Workshop objectives

  • To enable new and existing Practice Assessors to explore their roles and responsibilities in relation to the supervision and assessment of Student Diagnostic Radiographers.
  • Share experiences in undertaking student assessments, learning from each other to develop confidence and proficiency.
  • Discuss issues that have arisen from undertaking student assessments.
Workshops are 90 minutes long and will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams.

Further study

This is a multi-professional distance-learning module. For Medical Imaging departments, this is not an alternative to the training above and would be studied at masters level after the above has been completed.
College of Radiographers approval has been applied for in order for the learner to obtain PEAS accreditation.
